Bookmarks aren’t used as they were in the early days before Google. When you had a dial-up connection, you needed to save sites so as to not waste precious time finding it again. While we can usually find oft-used sites within mere seconds now, keeping bookmarks of helpful websites you may not use everyday is always a good idea.
Today, I’m sharing a very random list of websites I find myself using time and time again. This list is of no particular category or topic. Bookmark these bad boys, and save yourself the time of an extra google search.
In no particular order…
DownRightNow?
An excellent tool to see if the reason that Netflix or Twitter or whatever isn’t working is because of a problem on their end, or if its you.
Malware Check
Find out if that site is bad news before you even go to it. Helpful to check links that just give you a weird feeling, because you should never, ever, ever click without being sure.
Bedbug Registry
Sorry for the heebie jeebies, but a great tool to have on hand when travel is a thing we do again. Some day, I’ll do a post on my checking into a hotel routine for health and safety, but until then, always check for bed bugs.
FindAGrave
I love doing genealogy research, for a myriad of reasons. Most folks think an ancestry.com subscription is the only way to research, but that’s no longer the case. I have plenty of free research sites bookmarked, but HANDS DOWN the most helpful site is FindaGrave. So, so much information and ability to contact people. I’ve actually found a cousin on this site, and it exploded my research.
ColorHex
If you do any type of design work, be it a full project or just updating company letterhead, use this site to actually get the correct color information and be able to copy it into your program of choice. You can also find out if colors even match. Not all purples and blues are created equally.
Politwoops
Deleted tweets are forever, and Politwoops proves it by listing tweets deleted by electeds and candidates. Can be…very telling.
SparkToro
Find out if you have any fake followers on your Twitter account (or any account, for that matter). Helpful to weed out and block bots.
Hashtag Generator
If you want to reach more people on Instagram, you have to use hashtags, and it can be overwhelming. This tool gives you the best ones to use for your goals. Copy them into a note if you are using them again and again!
Pixabay
Free stock photos. High quality, at that. I use this religiously.
Mailbox Map
Given post office woes and changes and all that jazz, this is a helpful tool. So help me, I can pass a mailbox every day for a year and still pause to think where one is when I have to drop something off
For added efficiency, put these on your bookmark bar and find them easily, even on your phone. You’re welcome.
